High Up Above

It's been 3 months and this will be the last post on my Sydney trip for now! Been itching to write this up before the last few posts and keeping them in chronological order but my silly habit of wanting to save the best for the last got the better of me. I've been so blessed to be able to get onto this surreal scenic plane ride during my trip in Sydney, and once again, I wouldn't have this opportunity if it wasn't for Scott and I also have Joanne to thank for. Overcoming your fears definitely isn't something easy, and I'm grateful that you've gathered up the courage to put that fear aside for this one day. Not to mention, I've also managed to take in control of the plane for say 5 seconds? Though it wasn't long but hey, at least I've got something checked off my list! Not that it wa[...]

Urban Cool

How is everyone out there enjoying their long weekend (for those in Australia) or Monday? Waking up this morning wishing how blissful it will be to have a three day weekend every single week. For awhile now, I have been crossing the lines experimenting with various looks and pieces in the hopes of achieving a look with a strong urban cool sense of style. I have to admit that I was probably watching too much of Step Up series which could potentially be one of the main reason that sparked off this idea. But then again, it's always nice to give yourself a challenge to match the available pieces from your wardrobe to put a new look altogether! For this look that I put on, I thought of keeping it simple by pairing a warm down vest which my mum had gotten me from Uniqlo and a print[...]

Boston Terrier

Hi everyone, I hope that all of you had a fabulous week just like how I enjoyed mine! :) A little random fact about myself would be that I'm a lover of all things quirky, which means that I'll be sold if you show me a pair of flats that's designed around an animal. And how much better can it get when it's of a dog's breed! That's just the perfect icing on the cake above all things. Considering that this was also taken back in Malaysia, where the hot and humid weather only permits choices of clothing which allows for maximum breeze. At the same time, seeing how it was Chinese New Year then, it wouldn't be ideal to rock up at your relatives' houses in a pair of denim shorts and tee. One of the prettiest buy that I got myself during my Melbourne trip was this pair of ch[...]

Pink and Teal

Greetings love! It has definitely been ages since I've last blogged but if you hadn't noticed, I've been doing a big shift from http://melissa.momo4ever.com to this newly set up site Sparkles and Fox! It surely did took me awhile before I settle for a name because I wanted something where I can use till the end of time, possibly.. If you've noticed, I'm still in the midst of setting up my blog and I did gather some blog posts on this site from my previous blog, but if you would want to read all my posts from years before, feel free to head over to http://sparklesandfox.wordpress.com/. It's good to be back to keep the ball rolling, so why don't I start from where I'm supposed to have blogged about months ago? These pictures were taken back in February when I was still in Malaysia[...]

Yin & Yang

Well, all I can say is, you know that tiny obssesion that Belle from Beauty and the Beast has with books and libraries, the majestic architecture and the whiff of smell you get from the old pages? We had that exact same feeling on the forth day of our trip when we stepped into Melbourne's National Library. It was a day of getting to know Melbourne city itself a little more by visiting most of the famous spots that we heard of greatly. Not forgetting, it was also a day to shop. We headed to the State Library the very first thing in the morning, to avoid the 'crowd' because we thought that it might be a litte too loud with our cameras' shutter noises. It was a tad bit daunting when we have to pass by some security personnel before getting into the main hall, because as muc[...]

Melbourne by Night

There is a saying that goes by 'everything changes when the night falls'. I can say that Melbourne city is living up to that phrase without a doubt in mind. I didn't know how many times have I repeated this to both Joanne and Boon Hee, but oh yes, they have to bear with my constant squirms of how I feel so alive whenever I walk the streets of Melbourne. Isn't the view behind just breathtaking? It's been a long time since I've surrounded myself with skyscrapers and I truly missed being the city girl at heart. We both got a change of outfits after Mount Dandenong to get all sparkly for a night of fun and adventure! Prior to that, we had dinner at Madang that was tucked hidden at a corner, and knowing that Joanne was with us, Korean food was definitely inevitable. [...]

A Taste of Melbourne's Hillside

You would think that we will be spending our entire time in the city when we're in Melbourne. But when the third day of our trip came, we've conquered the marvellous picturesque city, had our fair share of the breezy ocean and breathed the crisp luscious air of Melbourne's hillside. While we were on our way back to Melbourne from the Great Ocean Drive the day before, Boon Hee (our nicest host in Melbourne) rang Joanne and asked if we would love to join his family for a day at Mount Dandenong! Without a doubt, we didn't give it a pass and went for it although we didn't know exactly where that's supposed to be but OKAY, LET'S GOO!!!! The only description that we have of this place was that everybody comes here for scones and jam at Miss Marples' Tea House! An hour drive out fro[...]

The Great Ocean Drive

After spending all day in the city a day before, we thought that it will be the next best thing to travel further down to the Great Ocean Drive just to surround ourselves with the amazing beauty of mother Earth. Long before the trip, this was one of top of our 'Must-Visit' places in Melbourne and I'm really glad that Valerie agreed on taking us on this road trip! I told her that she had just signed up for a big deal of fun with me around when it comes to a road trip! A great big thank you to you, valerie! It couldn't just get any better when Valerie took us for some breakfast at a small cosy cafe called Hardware Societe which was located nearby our apartment before adjourning on the few hours of long drive. She reckoned that this was a good place for b[...]

Boxing Day

A day that we've been waiting for all year round, to be honest, I hardly shop whenever I'm in Australia, and that is definitely not an understatement that's coming from me. Reason being that I believe everything is overpriced here for some reasons. But then again, I expected myself to go crazy beforehand considering that boxing day sales has to be the craziest all year round, and with stories from everyone on how there is a queue starting from early wee hours of the morning, it would be sensible to think that there has to be a lot of great bargains isn't it? Thankfully we're staying right smack in the middle of the city so it would only take a few minutes of walk to the city centre! Ahhh, the perks of staying in the city. It wasn't long till we wal[...]
