Having seen so many British inspired styles that boys don on the internet and searching religiously on the it sparked an idea of inspiration to me lately. Or shall I say, the slumbering boy character in me has finally awaken. Did I tell you that I find guys that dresses up in the British high street style are exceptionally visually pleasing? Aaaaanyway, I was looking around for pieces in my wardrobe if I could create a British Boy outfit but with a slight feminine touch just to keep things fresh! It really gives you a sense of satisfaction when you combine the common basics that you often wear on its own and make it into something entirely different and new.
Being one of the shirts that has been worn to death for its light weighted fabric and aesthetic reasons, I’ve chosen this shirt, yet again, to be part of this theme. Throw on my favourite burgundy varsity jacket over and tucked right under the shirt’s collar, BAM instant boyish charm! Don’t you think so? It probably reminds me of the 70s US diner/Grease era as well though now that I think about it!
Not wanting to take on the whole boyish charm entirely, I tone it down with a pair of brown shorts matched with a bright teal skinny belt just to brighten the whole outfit and also to add a dash of girlyness into it. Seeing how the outfit itself is already making a statement of its own, I didn’t want the accessories to steal the limelight so it was just a simple wrist strap and my favourite skull bracelets for that very day!
Here comes the crazy skipping around poles to test how far my shorts would let me stretch. Hahaha kidding! I really like the fact how simple it is to just finish the whole ensemble with a pair of brown shorts for maximum comfort without losing my style objective as well. Plus, it’s more of a substitute of the chinos you’ll commonly see the guys in Topman wearing with a denim shirt so that’s what I probably meant by taking a feminine approach to that particular style.
On a completely unrelated note, having seen this adorable sushi shop tucked in between the concrete jungle but never gotten the chance to try it, I’ve decided to head on there last week with my sister to try their interesting Cheeseburger maki! Who would have thought sushi could be so sinfully unhealthy?! But it was all balanced up with my seared salmon with sesame and sashimi with a side of edamame! Yummsss.
We even ended up heading to an art fair at Perth Cultural Center as I knew one of Joy’s illustration work is being shown there and I reallllly wanted those jellyfish balloons so badly after seeing so many children skipping around with them in the city! I have always thought there’s a man giving out but little did I know that we have to untie them ourselves! EASY! Little did I know that I was too short for the ones left hanging UGH!!! But all in all, it was definitely a day of absorbing culture and art.
What do you think of my feminine take on the boy’s style?
